Marrying Maiden
In the traditional Chinese society, a young
girl (the lower trigram) wedded the oldest son (the upper trigram) in a family
~ however, not as the official wife,
rather as a subordinate to the official wife. Therefore she had to
follow the guidance of her husband and behave modestly, with caution and
reserve.
This hexagram indicates that mutual affection is the most
important principle of all relationships. One should know where he or she stands and
take action only if absolutely necessary, with caution. Any risky or dramatic
actions will bring misfortune.
